Latin american heritage month to Legados
The 3th edition of Latin American Heritage Month kicks off soon. The Legados Institute is a founding member of this important celebration for both the Latin American community and all Montrealers.
We are preparing for a vibrant month of October, with events that will make us travel to Latin America and discover the creative force of our community here in Montreal. These events await you in the four corners of our beautiful city.
Legados is organizing two events to celebrate this special month : Zocalito, a Latin American market, with handicrafts from Latin America, and ¿Me cuentas un cuento?, la hora del cuento en español, a show to discover new stories and enjoy Latin American literature as a family.
Come celebrate with us!
¿Me cuentas un cuento?
Legados proposes an encounter with our language, Spanish, and indigenous languages, to rediscover the richness of Latin American literature for both children and adults.
To this end, Legados is taking its library to the streets with a traveling library that will visit some of the parks in the Plateau Mont Royal neighborhood for three Sundays in October. You will be able to find a selection of Hispanic American literature to get a taste for reading and exploring the narrative diversity of Latin America through books. It is also a great opportunity to celebrate with you the existence in our city of a Spanish-language library such as Legados’ and, if you are interested, to support us so that it continues to grow.
All this will be accompanied by a literary and musical show based on the visit of different tales representative of some Latin American countries to sample the taste of reading and oral tradition, but also to offer a beautiful family moment with a sensitive, different kind of show, performed by our guest artist Cristina Jiménez.
A program for the whole family on Sundays October 17, 24 and 31 from 10 am to 11.30 am in 3 different parks each Sunday:
- October 17 - Laurier Park
- October 24 - Baldwin Park
- October 31 – La Fontaine Park.
