We have been fortunate enough to work with the Legados center to give our students from the youngest to the oldest access to the Spanish language, but not only, access to art, culture, and a little trip inside the best of our school.
It's really a place where children are encouraged to imagine everything possible, and now when Zia tells me things in Spanish or sings to me in Spanish, I really get my heart filled like this.
Cultural experience
We are inspired by our experience as immigrants and the role that languages play in our new lives, to be able to dream and create Legados.
One day, as immigrants, we make a stop and take a break at the intense -sometimes devouring- moments of our immigration process. That day, we feel a strong desire of embracing our history, remember our memories and tell them aloud, so that our language can come out of the drawers and burst into our conversations.

Latin American Heritage Month 2023
This month of celebrations will feature a variety of activities with a strong intercultural flavour: a new edition of the El Barquito Tribute Exhibition|, a Panel, a Concert and Zocalito, the classic Latin American Fair in Legados.
The month of October is themed around a series of activities to highlight and celebrate both the work and the journeys of people who have been uprooted from their homelands to live here in Canada. This country is a land of welcome that has given them a new horizon, and that inspires and shapes us to live better together.
Panel - Round Table: Walking immigrants
A round table to celebrate the immigrant women who inspire us, to listen to their stories of immigration and uprooting, where uncertainty and fear rub shoulders with the outstretched hands of the land that welcomed them. A panel to listen to the voices of courageous and supportive women who contribute in their daily lives to weave a truly intercultural fabric. With the special participation of writer Martha Bátiz.
Concert by the Cajicá Symphonic Band, Colombia
This month, from October 23 to 27, 2023, Montreal will have the honor of welcoming a group of 65 young musicians from the Symphonic Band of the municipality of Cajica, Colombia. These young people, aged between 16 and 28, will gather in the Canadian city to participate in the "Canada-Colombia 2023 Cultural and Musical Exchange Project," an initiative coordinated by Pilar Jiménez in collaboration with the Instituto Legados.
Zocalito - Latin American market
This year, the Zocalito - Mercado Latino is in its fifth edition and is part of the program for the celebration of Latin American Heritage Month in Montreal. Legados celebrates this month with the aim of promoting the social and cultural manifestations of Latin American residents in Montreal.
